Major problems after 10.4.11 update!

Warning: think seriously before upgrading to 10.4.11. I did this recently and the following happened:

Update went well - computer started normally
Then noticed that the Air Port wasnt working - was unable to find my network.
After a restart, there was a Kernel Panic on startup - I could only boot in safe mode.
Used disc utility and fsck and all reported no problems.
Hardware test also normal
Performed and Archive and install back to 10.4 - but computer would not restart and still had the Kernel panic on start up - had to finish the install in safe mode after which it restarted and had another Kernel panic.

Switched off and left for several hours - then it started up ok??
Have now regraded to 10.4.10 as before but still have no Air Port working.

I have no idea why the airport is not working now as it worked when I was at 10.4.0 - also why the Kernel Panic seems not to occur after the machine has been turned off for a few hours.

Have not wiped the drive yet as this will be a last resort - can anyone help or offer advice?

Apple are aware of the problem I have experienced and have been very helpful so far but this does not excuse the fact that the machine was working fine before this update and now I am looking at a complete new system install!

I had very 'interesting' problems immediately. As soon as I booted with 10.4.11, Finder began a repetetive pattern of launching and crashing, every few seconds. My desktop icons would alternate from visible to invisible with each iteration.

Safari worked well enough to look up basic info, but I just ended up re-installing OS X to the version on my Install disc...tried the update again and had more problems...OS X would not even start.

I read that one user found success when they reset their PRAM, but I have to say that Apple have some reworking to do with 10.4.11.

I recommend extreme caution before going ahead with this update.

This update has caused my two Mac's to slow to a crawl. I repaired permissions before and after update. Also lost all mail contact information outside of e-mail address's in Gmail (phone numbers/street addys gone). No more predictive e-mail address when typing in the first couple of letters.

Safari is now useless. I'm on firefox now, which is not my 1st choice of browser. I feel like I'm on a slow PC. Pages are taking forever to open, Scroll bars are not working. I can no longer pull down a page by holding pointer on scroll bars in any application. Highlighting is no longer working. Can't highlight image files in a folder and drag them elsewhere any longer.

If apple doesn't offer a fix for this problem soon, I'll be forced to restore Tiger.

Yes, do not update! I KNEW that the timing (right after the release of Leopard) was suspicious and I knew that I shouldn't have updated. This is clearly an attempt to sell more copies of Leopard and I think a class action law suit is in order if they don't fix this ASAP.

A few things that happened to my computer:
Firefox won't launch
iTunes is messed up -- deleted all my podcasts & playlists
Safari is barely working, it's slow and won't download complex things like PDFs
The dock was reset

I've never had any problems before. Nor did I have any third party enhancements installed.

Yes, I wish I'd known about this beforehand only in my case, it's Bluetooth that's stopped working and is causing Kernel panics. I updated from 10.4.10 without a hitch except that I got the Apple Welcome show that normally only appears after a fresh install! Then I tried connecting via BT to my phone...kernel panic! Rebooted OK and tried again....kernel panic again. Rebooted, repaired permissions and tried to connect to another device via BT....kernel panic. It's completely ridiculous; all was fine before this wretched update!!!

I am also having all these problems. Disk Warrior repaired some things, but Safari and SOftware Update still won't launch. I can't even reinstall because it keeps crashing. Permissions have been repaired, and HD checks out ok. Happened on the iBook first, but I was able to reinstall there, and everything was fine. So I decided it was ok to go on the PowerPCG4, but I am stuck in limbo here.

I'll keep watching here for solutions.

Major problems after 10.4.11 update!
