Proper MIDI-Audio Setup - V-Drums

Hey guys, I need some serious advice/help on setting up my electronic kit to my mac. Here's what i have so far, Roland TD-3 connected to m-audio Projectmix, both midi ins and outs, and via L/R outputs on the TD-3. Once I set Local Control to Off on TD3, Logic sees it and I'm able to record midi. (I understand that there is no audio on MIDI, just series of values.) I'm also able to split the recording and have different midi tracks for each drum instrument. Here's the problem: I want to move the midi tracks to an audio track so I can apply effects and do some proper mixing on them, unfortunately I can't. I've search almost everywhere online to no success, additionally, I'm completely confused about the "environment" set up. Please help, because it really stinks that I'm almost there with the music projects!

hey thanks for replying! yeah, i have the exact same setup you mentioned. i'm able to record both audio and midi, but after splitting the midi track to seperate tracks (by event or pitch), how do i do that with the audio tracks? additionally, i can only apply effects and other plugins on the audio tracks (left and right) and nothing else. is this normal? is there a work-around this?

If I understand your goal, the problem is that the TD-3 has only two audio outs. The TD-20 has 8, so you can record audio out from the kit into 8 separate tracks in Logic.

The work around is to not use the Roland sounds, but just the kit to capture your performance, and then to map the resulting individual MIDI tracks to a sampler such as the EXS or to a dedicated drum sampler such as Toontrack, BFD etc. where you can assign the correct samples to your demixed MIDI tracks.

dman that sounds complicated and as much as i read about MIDI, it still confuses me! ha! basically you're saying to use the roland to trigger the drums kits in logic? i've noticed i can do that as well, although the response and sensitivity is better using the roland brain. even when i trigger logic's drums, i still can't add any plugins on them. any ideas?
