My son recently got an Ipod Nano. Everything was working fine until just recently when Itunes no longer recognizes his Ipod when I hook his up to the Computer?? Any help would be appreciated as to how I can correct this problem.

What operating system is the computer running? Does the computer recognize the iPod? Are there any errors in device manager? When I load iTunes on my laptop it loads some drivers for my iPod and then Windows Vista won't recognize it

Windows XP is on my computer and I don't get any error messages. I can open ITUNES but when I hook my son's Ipod Nano up Itunes doesn't show it??

Try manual reset of the ipod itself...Hold the menu and center select buttons down simultaneously for about 6-8 seconds. An apple icon will appear if it was performed correctly. This should be enough. Plug the usb cable into the ipod and see if it works. I had the same problem and this worked for me. Good luck!

Okay. I'm not sure how I did it, or what it does, but I had the same problem and fixed it.

I reseted the iPod nano with the cable connected to the computer. (Press and hold Menu and the center button until the screen goes black.)

Then right when it starts to power up again, hold the forward and previous buttons. It will start up seemingly normally, but magically connect!

Not sure how it works, but it did for me, so I hope this helps everyone.

    Hi tonybowls,

Do you have the MS patch Windows6.0-KB936824-x86 installed?? What iPod software do you have installed? 1.0.2 was crashing lots of 3rd gens. Youcan update to 1.0.3 or back to 1.0.1.
