iWeb Blog Summary Widget error

I have seen this problem posted here before, but I'm posting it again. Why? Because it's an incredibly annoying error and I can't believe nobody has found a way around it.

The error is on the Blog entry page, the error code is BLOG SUMMARY WIDGET ERROR. It also lists a few lines that are problems, noting that a reference error is to blame.

I'm sure I am not the only person with this problem. I can't figure it out, my simple knowledge of Java isn't getting me anywhere in the code. Oddly, it isn't actually effecting my page in any way, with the exception of the error code. Anyway, anyone with suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

The error happens here: http://www.mcbya.net/RepublicofThoronia/Blog

Another odd thing, the blog summary page refuses to acknowledge photos, even when I use the original image... very odd indeed.

wow! that's the first time I see iWebDebug.js working, but not much help from looking at the code.

However, you have other problem (it may be related) with the second widget --> app.feeddigest.com
The code uses link tags, and link tags need to be inside head tag. But iweb html snippet can not do that, it can only insert the code in body tag.

That may cause the other javascript from loading, you may want to remove that widget, see if that helps.

The problem originated before installing feed digest (actually its part of the reason I hunted down feed digest, so people could bypass even going to the blog page). I've tried removing everything, starting from scratch, etc. Its weird too because I've even set up a new site using the 2.0 themes and it works fine, but if I start a 1.x site, it gives the error again. Maybe the blog summary widget doesn't like my broken english typing skillz.

The point is that I don't want to start a new 2.0 themed page from scratch and lose/have to redo 50+ blog entries. That's a big boo-urns in my book. I guess the error is only annoying to me, and likely others don't really notice/care.

i am having the same problem. i just got ilife 08 and the site I started with it is just fine. but the site I had started with the previous version after 'updating for 08' has the same error. the entries are in the iweb file but it doesn't publish. and the whole page has weird formatting issues. you can see the site at http://www.jayebrowning.com

one of the other issues is on the main page where the sidebar is. there's supposed to be 3 photos and then more text links under what is showing up.

any ideas

You are the second one seeing this. I reported this as a bug, I suggest you do the same.
When you report it, reference to this thread, your link and the offended file is BlogSummary.js and line 210

I'm getting the same problem too. I've just updated my iWeb from 1 to 2. I've had to more or less re-create my Blog from scratch as the upgrade wrecked the summary and recent items pages (probably because I'd use jTemplate).

So I created a new Site, dragged the old blog over to it and created a brand new one in my proper site. I then copied all my formatting over AND all the entries. All looks fine in iWeb, but I see the same error messages as described here. Take a look here : http://www.andrewmay.biz/test/

Obviously I've moved a lot of stuff around from the normal White template, and deleted a few things too, but I would have hoped that iWeb wouldn't let me trash things that then broke it.
