Adding RAM to 24" 2.4ghz iMac

I'm aiming at a 2.8 with 4 GB RAM. A reader on this board suggested configuring the 2.4 up to 2.8, and then purchasing a 4 GB RAM package separately and installing.

O.K. makes sense to me and seems simple enough to install.

This is probably a dumb question, but I haven't installed RAM myself in a Mac, so forgive my ignorance.

It looks like the new iMac comes with 2 slots for RAM. If I buy the 2.4Ghz upgraded to 2.8, it will come with 1 MB RAM. So...I'm presuming what I would do is purchase a 4GB package (2-2GB)and replace the one installed stick of RAM with the two?

Just want to make sure if I configure for the lower cost, I'll still be able to get 4 GB of RAM installed with no problem.

Thanks!

Yes, it's exactly as you described it -- pop out 1x1GB, and insert 2x2GB.
