Printed image comes out negative

I'm trying to print the flyer template but the image I replaced the template with comes out as a negative when printed. Looks fine on the screen. I took from a webpage as a gif. Tried using iPhoto to convert to a jpeg. Same problem, but slightly different colors. Thought it may be a driver problem, so I updated the print drivers to those for Leopard. No go. Saved as and exported the document to a PDF and both ways didn't work. Everything else on the page comes out fine any way it's printed. Any ideas?

The problem occurred indeed when you use the shadow or transparency tool on a graphic.

I've tested it with several printers (all HP) and they all do exact the same thing. I'm not sure if any other printers has the same problem?!

The latest update of iWork don't fix this problem. It's really strange that the printer can print anything correctly with all the applications. However when you use Pages and create a shadow around an object you have those problems. It seems that Apple still needs to adress this issue.

I've found it very strange then...with all the application photoshop, office, any image editor and so on I can edit change or do whatever with an image. The printer prints the graphic perfectly.

However only and **only with**with the iWork applications I get those problems. I may do whatever I want with the images. The printer will print them correctly. The only time when the problems begin is when you add some shadow or/and transparency. Those basic editor tools are also available in other application which cause no problems at all. It's only iWork that has those problems.

Test for yourself and I really hope you do:

Start Pages and choose an empty page layout
Insert any graphic you want
Add a shadow to the graphic
Print the document

Are the colors the same on the paper and on the screen?

I've tested this with: HP 1210, 140, 970Cxi, 890C, 5500 All give the same results.
If others has not trouble at all I'm really interested in which printer they use.
