Quick Time streaming: only sound

I'm having some problems with QuickTime. I'm unable to view streaming video, all I get is sound. I can't see any of the movies on the apple site nor on other sites. When I download them there is no problem so I think it may have something to do with plug-ins and such.
I'm new pretty new to apple computers so forgive me if I'm overlooking the obvious.
I have only tried it in Safari. I've got Mac OS X 10.5.1, on a MacBook Pro 2,4GHZ, and it's QuickTime 7.3
Does anyone have a solution for me?
Thanks.

Open the HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder and drag the QuickTime Plugin. webplugin to your Desktop.
Quit and relaunch Safari and try the page again.

I have a program called Tubesock that lets you convert YouTube videos to .mp4 files that I save on my hard drive and that I use to play using Quicktime. So to make it clear, these are not streaming files but are actually converted on my hard drive. I have done this many, many times until I just got the 7.4 update and I can no longer see the video, just hear the sound. Is there a fix or can I downgrade to 7.3 or what because that was an extremely useful tool.

Thanks, QuickTimeKirk, your technique worked for me, today, 1/28/08. Funny that something so utilitarian and efficient as your few steps couldn't be posted in the QT FAQ. Looking at this thread it's clear that other Apple users have had this kind of problem. Thanks, again, it worked for me.

By the way, after just upgrading to OS 10.4.11, it took a number of failures with iSync, a number of forum prowls to find another link, valuable as this one, reminding users to run DiskUtility to verify/repair permissions and volumes. That also helped me finally be able to run iSync successfully.

Hi all,
I upgraded to QT 7.4.1 (and I have Pro too) and wish I hadn't.
The problem I had was my Tube Sock program wouldn't show video in QT only the audio came through. They would however play in ITunes.
I tried some of the suggestions I found here and no luck.
I finally went back to Tube Sock and downloaded the old version 1.0.1. and now I can save You Tube videos with sound and picture and they open with QTime too.
I emailed stinkbot the tube sock people but haven't heard back from them yet. The newer 2.0 version was cooler but hey I got sound and video so I will put up with the barber shop pole until someone gets this figured out for us.
