Safari not responding to the "enter" key

I am having the same issue... I installed the OS 10.4.11 update, which includes Safari 3, and now Safari is behaving badly. I tried uninstalling (deleting) Safari and reinstalled the 10.4.11 update, but now I don't even see Safari in my app folder... but a program called "japanese.lproj" opened and acted just like Safari... for now I renamed it "Safari.app" and put it in my App folder. I'll reinstall Safari (if possible) from my Tiger Install disc, then try the upgrade again.

Here's problems I notice so far:
1) I type any URL into the address bar and hit "enter or return" but nothing happens. I have to refresh the page (curved arrow button or CMD+R on keyboard) to make the URL load. Stupid!

2) The "Google" Search are to the right of the URL address window doesn't work. I can type a search item in the google area and hit "enter" or even click the go button to the right, and still NOTHING happens. I have to manually type www.google.com into the address bar, refresh the page, get to Google homepage and do my searches from there.... what a pain!

Go to these 2 locations to see if you have any 3rd party extensions and move anything present in them onto your Desktop to deactivate them:

/Users/YourUsername/Library/Input Managers/
/Library/Input Managers/

Restart Safari to pick up the change. If it works now, you can try moving the items back one by one until you find the culprit.

Well I have the same issue on my PPC based macs.

First I thought it was a problem because of the Sogudy plug-in (Input-Manger).

But then i was at my friends house this weekend and on his brand new *LEOPARD iMac* it is exactly the same.

if you are like me and there is no folder named "Input Managers" anywhere on your disk (for those who believe that I may be an idiot I used find / -type d -name "Input Managers" from a terminal) you may find that disabling Javascript helps.

Go to Preferences, Security, and uncheck Enable Javascript.

This will make surfing .... not very good. I find that I can just toggle the settings and get some useful surfing. When I need it I turn it on (like when posting to Apple's site). Otherwise leave it off.

Maybe Apple will fix this soon. Who knows.

Found "PicLens" - a Firefox addon located in /Library/InputManagers was my culprit. I removed it and all is working again. Java is all enabled.
