The Big unanswered "QuickSilver" Question...

What's are the functional differences between the QuickSilver (2001) and the QuickSilver 2002?

Besides larger CPU's / bigger drivers / and a year.

Are the power supplies different?

Is the mother board different/

Or what?

I purchased four G4 733's. I put kids into Apple computers that can't afford them.
I installed a ATA 160 GB HD in the first one, no problems. I couldn't get the other drives to work in the other 733's. I checked the power supplies on the other machines and they are different than the first machine. I am told I do not have sufficient power on the other machines. I now have a problem which I am going to test out. That is to install the other hd's in the first machine to see if they come up. But to let you know the power plants are not the same.

Welcome to the Apple discussions!

It is not a power problem. It is ROM-resident support for drives over 128 GB problem. Jeff touched on it above when he mentioned that the newer models can do 48-bit Logical Block Addressing (LBA). That is the feature that allows them to address many more blocks, and support much larger drives. This may be interesting, or your eyes may glaze over with the technical terms, but it contains "The Rules" about drive size on the built-in IDE/ATA Bus:

86178- Macintosh: Using 128 GB or Larger ATA Hard Drives
