Moving Channel Strip in Mixer View

Hi

How do I move a channel strip so it appears in a different position in the mixer view? I've looked and looked in the manual and tried and tried every combination of keystrokes I can think of!! Say I have channel strips 1, 2 ,3 and 4 appearing left to right in that order and I want to move 2 to appear between 3 and 4 so; left to right it now appears 1, 3, 2 and 4 .....how do I do that? Any ideas - it's not a big deal but I'd like to know if it's possible. Is it in the environment you move the strip?

Use the environment not the mixer.

Link the mixer to your arrange window. Now the order of your tracks in arrange should be the order in the mixer.

In the arrange page, move your cursor over the track you want to move in the track list until it turns into a hand. Now you can grab that track and move it up or down in the track list. This new order will be displayed in the mixer view.

It's really a huge oversight and is the same way in Nuendo. Must be a European thing, this penchant for making someone go to the Arrange Window to arrange things in the MIXER window. Hugely silly. I hope they change this.

Ah - but what if it is a BUS channel? I accidentally created my submix buses as 2-1-3-4 and cannot find a way to re-order them in the mixer or the environment (and they don't appear in the arrange window). Any tips?

Select it in the mixer view, and in the mixer's Options menu, choose Create Arrange Track for Channel strip. It/them should then appear in the Arrange view, and you can move them there.

Hi John

Seems this is the key - you need to create a track for all the relevant channel strips (i.e. those which you wish to move past) in the arrange view .... only then, it seems, can you change the order they appear in the mixer.
