Best Slideshow App

Best Slideshow App

I am looking for the best application to make slideshows with stills, video, animated text and cool transitions. iLife apps seem to either be grossly insufficient or entirely lacking in some of these departments. I am a new Mac user and am not opposed to purchasing FCE although I am already bleeding cash for the $2400 Mac purchase.

Any advice ranging from freeware to FCE purchase would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.

You'll be surprised what you can do with iMovie - not as much as FCE, but still plenty, and that includes everything on your list. Other possibilities include PhotoToMovie which won't won't work with video, but if you pop for QuickTime Pro ($30) you'll be able to join your motion graphics and video with it.

iMovie comes up a little short because the text is not animated and the 12 transitions available are very boring. My PC program did everything I wanted (Media Now) but I just couldn't handle all the freezing and rebooting that plagues Windows. Thought I would shell out for the Mac and am disappointed with slideshow creation.
