mac not recognizing airport express

My Airport Setup Assistant isn't recognizing my airport express. My airport express used to work with my PC, but has not worked since I switched to a Mac. In addition, when I plug the airport express into power and connect the internet, the light is immediately green, then blinks orange.

I downloaded the new apple express firmware update, but there is no device to select, to update.

Thanks for your help

Hi

I seem to be having a similar problem. I got Airport Express to play iTunes through my stereo speakers which worked initially but then couldn't add it to my home network. After a lot of trying going through Airport Utility I couldn't get it to work - then I did a factory reset - now I can't see the AEX in Airport at all even though it's switched on (with amber light flashing)

If I do a factory rest with an ethernet cable, should it sort it do you think?

Yes. The factory default reset will reconfigure the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) back to its "out-of-the-box" settings. Connecting directly, using an Ethernet cable, should allow the AirPort Admin Utility to "see" the AX for administration.

I am having the same trouble. My Airport Express is not recognised. I followed the link to factory-reset but there is no "popup Show" menu on the Network pane. I tried holding down the reset button (1) While it was plugged in (2) while it was unplugged and then plugging back in--no 4 green flashes, just one green flash and then back to slow blinking amber.

I am sorry if I am being dense, but how can I get this Airport Express recognised? I want to make it a remote base station to extend my wireless network.

thanks in advance for any help.

Okay: update: I muddled through the factory-reset though the instructions didn't match exactly what I saw; I got a flashing amber light and then the Airport Utility DID detect the AEx. Then I tried to make it connect to existing network (which I am using right now) and it tells me it can't detect a network, and make sure my computer is in range of the network. Hello. It is in range.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. I am going nuts here.

You may need to try the factory default reset procedure several times until it does flash 4 times, otherwise it's not actually resetting.
