Question

Size and quality

Would pages be a good program to make a large photo collage, I want to make up a poster sized collage of wedding pictures and have it professional printed, would pages be a good enough program to use or should I invest in something like photoshop to do that.

For a poster sized collage, I would not use Pages but Numbers.
Create a new document in Numbers, delete the available table.
You will have a blank area on which you will be able to put many objects (photos in this case).
The doc may be several pages in width and several pages in height.
So, you will be able to print at a normal resolution, not at a reduced one resulting of a zoom process.

So does that mean that pages is limited in the size of page that it can edit to an 8.5*11?

No Pages is without any real limit, as far as I know. Just go to Page Setup and change the Paper Size. Customize, if needed. You can put high-res photos in there.

It would be helpful if you would reveal why you think Numbers is more suitable than Pages for the task.
