how do I map a network drive in mac?

I am new to mac, how do I map a drive letter? I am in a windows 2000 network and need to get to a mapped drive letter. How do I map the drive letter or otherwise use my mac in this windows network?

Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Two options, both accomplish the same goal:

Option 1: Apple (Command) + K. Then enter the server/folder path like so: smb://server/folder. Enter your username and password, if prompted.

A new icon will then be placed on your desktop and in the finder, under "Shared".

Option 2: Click on "Go", then "Connect to Server", then enter the server/folder path like so: smb://server/folder. Enter your username and password, if prompted.

A new icon will then be placed on your desktop and in the finder, under "Shared".

I am having a similar issue. I am trying to map network drives similar to the way I can on my work laptop.

I got the VPN set up and running (or so it says). On my PC, I run this script that short script that looks like:

net use h: /delete
net use h: \\192.168.3.3\acquisition /user:groupname\nbarr mypassword

I would love to be able to mount this location like I can on my PC. I tried the apple + K idea with no success. Any help? Thanks-

what FreezerBurnt said should work but if you want a shortcut, you could make an automator workflow.....here's a link..... http://help.itap.purdue.edu/viewarticle.php?articleid=515 ......you'll have to change the details to meet your needs but the basic procedure is the same....

You'll want to go to finder and press Cmd-K like the previous poster said.
Then in the Server Address box, type "smb://192.168.3.3/acquisition"
Then for username and password type the information you supplied, and you should be all set.
