iPhones and the Mini Cooper?

Hello... I don't know if any of you have already found your answer, but I recently purchased a 2008 Mini Cooper S and at first had problem as the people above have. However, I have figured it out! They give you a cable when you purchase the vehicle. At first, I was just plugging in the Aux to the top... that worked but not with the steering wheel function. Then I plugged in the USB only, and it wouldn't play the sound. What you have to do is get a cable that connects to the bottom port AND also the AUX hole at the top. The cable they give you does both, so you should be fine after that. Once you plug in both holes and connect, it works great from the steering wheel and the Bluetooth works flawless as well. The phone will pause the music with an incoming call then resume once the call has ended. Once again, this is only for the 2008 MCS, I don't know how much they differ from older models. I hope this long rambling helped. If it didn't please post it and I'll work to fix it. Thanks.

I've tried it and I couldn't make it work.
I've read some sites claiming it workd... but I had no luck.
When I attach the iphone on the mini car ipod adapter it says the accessory it's not made for the iPhone and wants to switch in airplane mode. I selected no, as said on many threads, and then on the ipod application says accessory attached, but when i try to select a "cd" on my car stereo it don't recognize the iphone. Even the playlist 6, which will play the entire music library.

If you make it works I would be thrilled to know how...

I have a mini cooper S. I was able to listen to the music stored on the iPhone (mini 1, mini 2, mini 3...) on the cars radio when it had the 1.1.1 firmware. Last week I upgraded the iPhone to 1.1.3 and now it won´t work. Does someone knows if there is a way to fix this (without going back to 1.1.1)?

I have a MINI Cooper S 2005 and I'm curious if there were any additional resolutions to be tried? I do not have an iPhone, but it would be nice if I could connect the future iPhone into my iPod connection in the glovebox, have the phone charging, play music using playlists or not, and when I receive a call the music should stop so I could answer my future bluetooth headset connected to the iPhone, then when the phone call is complete, the music automatically starts up where it left off. Does it do that? Will it do that eventually? If it will, I will so be getting the iPhone... Look forward to your analysis. Thanks!

I've read about this problem before. Apparently, there was some issue with the version of the iPod adapter installed on the MINI Cooper.

It does work, but it depends on the version of software on the MINI Cooper S. I don't think it's dependent on the firmware version of the iPhone.

I do not know about the mini cooper but I have the IDA-X100 by Alpine and that is how I use the phone features while listing to the music.

There is the interference occasionally; which if I have the phone down by my shifter it isn't as bad as when it is in the space below the stereo, but listen to the music and have a bluetooth headset paired with the phone and when I get a call the music fades and I can answer it over the headset.

Has worked great for awhile now.

My wife and I just got a 2008 Cooper S and it seemed to set up ok for us. We got the dealer installed NAV and not the factory NAV. The bluetooth on the Garmin set up ok for us, and then we set up the bluetooth for the car. It did take both of our phones, which the Garmin then booted us off - which seems to be ok with us for now. The phone system through the center console seems to let us toggle back and forth between phones.

The ipod function will not work over bluetooth, which I figure is because the bluetooth is only really good for a handsfree device, and not data transfer (Thank you apple). So, my wife's iphone will work for ipod functions when it is hooked up with the "Y" adapter. My phone does all the same things, but when I plug it in and try to use the ipod functions, the console has all of the same controls as it should (it sees the "ipod" and can change music), however, it refuses to play music out of the speakers in the car. It continually plays music out of the speakers in the iphone. Yes, I have the "y" adapter still plugged in properly. In fact, I switch back and forth between the 2 iphones and it plays hers, but not mine.

Granted, I have had some issue with my iPhone dropping me while I surf the net or use the YouTube function and kicking me back to my home screen. I have done a complete restore, and even did a restore as a new phone to eliminate an old preference file that may be corrupt. My wife's doesn't have this problem, and it could be the reason for my issue. I continue to have the issue and will be heading back into the Apple store today. I'm quite frustrated with the iPhone.

Hello... Copy Paste?! Select All?! Bluetooth Data Transfer?!

I no sooner walked out of the apple store with my replacement iPhone (due to the aforementioned issues) got into the mini cooper s, plugged in my wife's iphone (I took it with me in case I needed to show someone) and her phone was now giving me the same issues. Once I got home and re-installed everything, my phone works now...

Has worked great for me from day 1. Just make sure you have the 5 "MINI" playlist named correctly.

Haven't done that yet.

Has anyone else?
