Trouble installing Leopard on my Macbook

Hey guys,
I have a Macbook (intel core duo, 2ghz). I'm not able to install Leopard. After about 20% it showes an icon of my HD with a yellow exclamation point. I'm trying to do a clean install. The error is something about my hd, I forget actually.
At first i thought it was because my superdrive doesnt read DL's, however Leopard mounted on my desktop. So that's not the case. Is anybody having problems with installing Leopard on a Macbook "intel core duo". Thanks

Macbook/Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

You should use the Tiger DU to check the disk and verify file permissions.
Without a backup, if anything goes wrong you stand to lose your data.
Most people backup their systems even when they are not installing a new OS. If your data has any value it should always be backed up - HDs fail, and that's when most people realize that thing about backups.
Even changing a partition is dangerous.
If you do have to erase and install, you will certainly need the backup. The software is free, the external drives are cheap and you will need one anyway for Leopard's TM. Better to plan the install properly than wind up in the state some have with no backup and no OS.
