Voice Over tool with DV Audio problem.

Hello,

I have a mic hooked up to an XLR input on my Canon XH-A1. The camera is connected to the computer using firewire and works correctly for log and capture and whatnot. I need to record sounds in real time using the Voice Over function in FCP. I set the audio input to "DV Audio" and it gives me this error message:

+"The selected sound input device is unavailable. It may be in use by another application, disconnected or improperly connected, or may be conflicting with a video output device."+

I have closed all programs that may use the camera, such as iChat or Quicktime. It still does not work. Also, I have video output set to "None" and Audio output set to "Built-in Audio" so I don't think there should be conflicting video output problems.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have often had issues attempting to capture VO this way, and almost always wind up using the mac's built-in input and a mixer. However, I believe that it may be the external video setting that is interfering with your audio monitoring/recording. try monkeying with the playback and device control settings to see if you can get the VO tool to recognize the camera.

sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer.
