Exclamation mark when printing

I went to print 2 images on a page with N-Up last night. One was the full photo and the other was a cropped detail.

They both had the same 2x3 aspect ratio from my Digital Rebel. (I constrained the crop to "4x6")

When I printed, there was a little yellow triangle with and exclamation point on the cropped preview.

How do I find out what the little triangle was telling me? I tried clicking, double clicking and right-clicking, but could not get any additional information. I am pretty sure it was telling me that I did not have sufficient resolution, but I want to know how to have it tell me that, so I don't have to guess.

This suddenly started happening to me today. I tried preview and just get a picture of the printer progress bar in the PDF. Have printed hundreds of documents prior to today and over a long period with no trouble.

I don't think it is printer driver dependent because I am only using Preview at this point.

My theory is that this is happening because I need a few pictures as Christmas gifts.

hi I see its a cropped detail, its being enlarged too much and the resolution is going.
if that portion contains 120 dpi and you make it 5 times the size then the resolution is spread up by five times.

4x6 300dpi, or 2540resolution.
cropped part 0.5 inch taken enlarged to 4x6 spreads out the resolution
see above post.
keep changing the crop area until the yellow exclaimation goes away, enlarge copped area
