why can't I print shapes in excel?

Why I can't print lines or shapes from the "drawing" icon in excel. I have 12", 1 GHz PowerBook G4 running OSX 10.3.9. Excel is Excel X for Mac. I can draw shapes and lines onto an excel spreadsheet but they will not print. I've tried saving as a .pdf but they don't appear there either. "Normal" excel data prints fine, but nothing from the "Drawing" toolbar. Print Preview shows the drawing data. Am I missing a preference or a config somewhere?

Hi wallyu,

Double click on the shape to open the Format preferences. Click on the Properties and check mark Print Object.
