Spray painting Macbook Pro

Okay. I know a bunch of you will say it's a stupid idea to spray paint a $2700 device. but it's my money and i want to do it. Also, I plan on taking the computer apart. and spraying the shell only (All organs will be put aside).

That being said. I need to know:

1) what kind of paints would work well with the "brushed aluminum" paint and not corrode the paint to where it chips off, taking the spray paint layer with it.

2) Any special screws or any surprises i need to know about taking it apart and putting it back together. (maybe pointing me to a guide somewhere) - special screw drivers i'll need... etc.

3) what about those weird plastic trims? Do those come off / go back on easily? or do i need to tape them off? (again, guides to disassembling/reassembling would be great.

4) some paint is chipping on the recessed band at the bottom of the keyboard. will i have to strip it off (this isn't mac specific advice, just me being stupid. probably the best idea is to strip it off so it doesn't get dusty and the texture doesn't show through.)

5) Yeah, i know i can forget about my warrenty. It's gone anyway, my MBP is about 15 days over a year old.

Thanks for your help.

As far as I can assist;

i) Take apart instructions here;
http://blog.petralli.net/photos/main.php

or www.ifixit.com

ii) This lot paint Macs. You could ask them how they do it.
http://www.colorwarepc.com/

iii) If you bought the computer with a credit card, the card issuer might have automatically doubled your one year warranty. Worth checking if your decision is based on the fact that you're out of warranty.

Best of luck.

Thanks a lot. Answered.

That Website is perfect. But the question about paint is still up in the air. I might just strip it all off and buy paints for metal, or ask the guys at ACE.

for the warranty: I bought the mac. I didn't get an extended warranty. I was just saying that so i didn't get a bunch of people pointing out that i would lose my warranty.

I'd call the Colorware people and ask them. They'd probably tell you.

As for the card, I just meant that sometimes people use credit cards and don't realise the benefits they get - like free automatic warranty coverage, automatic insurance on hire cars etc just as a result of using the card. Mine for example doubles the warranty on electrical stuff - I don't have to buy it.

Anyway, best of luck. I imagine it will be fun.
