Tiger Woods 08 fixed by Time Machine!
I'm using a iMac with the new version 10.5 (Leopard). My game locked up in the 4th round of my first PGA Tour event, Doral, after final shot on 18. 2 record boxes came up, but the last box would not let me press OK. My full system froze, but I heard my external ** drive thrashing (LaCie). I had to reboot to get out of it.
I checked the forums, but nothing helped. I was determined, and know some tricks w/Mac. I discovered in the "Readme" file on the DVD that your profile is /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2008/Preferences/P_drive. iMac Leopard has a new feature called "Time-machine". When I tried to start my game again, it only displayed the TW08 splash window, but no game. I checked my "Activity" monitor, and "inspected" the TW process, then checked "Open Files & Ports", I forwarded to the bottom of the file & it kept coming up with "vnode: FD unavailable", and flashing the directory for p_drive above. That was the clue I needed. I killed the process, then brought up "Time-Machine", then went 'back-in-time" to time just before my 4th round, opened the "Maintosh HD" folder, drilled down to the p_drive folder, then chose "Restore" of Time-Machine (bottom-right of TM). That restored my p_drive folder. When I retried my game, it began at the beginning of round 4 at Doral. I did lose my last round, but when I replayed it, I shot lower than before (my Q-school final score was -69!), and Doral final was -47 (round 4 = -18 alone).
Anyway, this gave me a good method to fix or redo a tourney if it goes bad or I have a crash.
One other item, when my 1st hangup occurred, the 18th hole at Doral turned black grass, the crowds disappeared, and the time between shots increased (very slow). I also discovered my mac was doing some sort of re-indexing of my external drive at the same time (it took approx 3 hrs to complete, and I waited before trying to fix my TW08)
