CANON LBP 2900

I have also followed your steps, but the system can't recognize the driver for the printer. I have installed the CAPT driver and the .gz file in the profile folder, i connect the printer and the system sees it is a LBP 2900 but cannot find the corresponding driver.

I'm back.

I've test to install the printer on my macmini but it wasn't work with my previous solution because i've test so many things...
So, i've copy the "CAPT" (Librairy/Printer/Canon/ folder of my MacBook to the same folder of my MacMini & it's works !!

I'll upload this folder as soon as posible & you have to test it.

UPDATE: Here is the link of my "CAPT" folder:

You have to:
1. Rename your "CAPT" folder (Library/Printers/Canon) to "CAPT_OLD" or anything like that
2. Put "my" CAPT folder here: Library/Printers/Canon
3. Restart
4. Install the lastest CANON driver ( http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0028785.asp?model=)
5. Restart
6. You're OK 😉.

UPDATE #2:
You can also share the printer on the network 🙂.

Hi Dexter, first of all, thank you for your time in trying to help us out. I followed your instructions but unfortunately on my macbook pro it does not work. it's a pity but never mind, i will go ahead and buy a mac printer. thank you anyway for your help!

thank you so much - after countless attempts, I have copied your CAPT folder and now my LBP prints all right!

So problem solved, but I still wish I'd understand what was wrong in the procedure and God, Canon, get you **** act together, you losers !

I bought this printer this morning and didn't even dream of it not working with a Mac in this day and age. Rather than take it back, I trawled the net and found this thread. Following Dexter's instructions it now works perfectly with 10.5.2 - so many thanks! Not a wasted purchase after all.

I'm using the 2900 on my XP PC and sharing the printer over the network. Is there a way to make it work.

I've tried your way but I can't find the driver. I guess your solution only works with USB.

dexter, i see that pretty much everybody was able to install the lbp 2900. how can i start fresh on my mac pro to try one last time, i really can't understand why it doesnt work. i tried to delete the canon folder and reinstall the CAPT and driver, but still doesnt work. any better way to "clean" the mac to a fresh configuration? thanks.

DexterHD I followed your steps, copied your capt folder, installed the 1.7driver, but on 10.5.2 mbp 2.2ghz the printer does't work. The system can see the printer, but when I print, the print queue says INTERRUPTED.

Thank you so much for providing the CAPT folder. That's the only thing that did work.

Now i can print from 10.5.4 with no problems.

However if I plug it in the Time Capsule, it does the same stuff. Sees the printer but won't print.
Any ideas?

mmmm, I don't get it. Downloaded the latest CAP V170 dmg. Installed it, restarted my computer. Then there is no single file in my Library\printers folder. Where did the files install? And how can I get the right file in the right directory, so I can point my printer installation to it?

Yesterday i reinstall Leopard on my MacBook and my printer work, there is the way:

- Install the Canon Drivers ( http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0028785.asp?model=)
- Restart
- Rename your "CAPT" folder (Library/Printers/Canon) to "CAPT_OLD" or anything like that
- Put "my" CAPT folder here: Library/Printers/Canon ( http://boolet.free.fr/CAPT.zip)
- Restart

... and your LBP2900 will be in the printer list & should work 🙂.

Welcome to the Mac world, and congrats on your new Baby... which exact iMac did you get?

Could you be looking in the wrong Library folder?

There are at least 2...

/Library/Printers/Canon

/Users/YourUserName/Library/

This last one won't have the Canon folder/files. 🙂
