Printing Tip for Konica Minolta Bizhub C550

How did you get the IPF700 up and running? I haven't been able to print from 10.5 since we upgraded.

ipf700 won't run.

anyone solved this? canon support couldn't help.

We're printing to our iPF610 from 10.5.1. The driver is a version 3.94 and the readme shows that it supports the iPF510 and iPF710 also. Maybe you can use this driver to your iPF700???

Is it setup with the canon SELPHY-CP-710 - Gutenprint v5.1.3 driver? I downloaded the version you referenced and when I added the 700 as an IP printer it gave me the option for the 710 and 510 on the gutenprint, but no other options. Neither option will print. Both spool, and then nothing prints.

No. It's definitely the iPF (GARO) driver for the large format printers.

Note that you cannot browse for the printer via the Canon list. You either select the printer via the Default view (for locally connected) or use More Printers > Canon iPF (GARO). The print using menu will change to the appropriate model of iPF.

Having said that, I think this will give you an error or not even auto-complete the Print Using menu as it will not associate the iPF700 with the iPF710 driver. So my suggestion could be a waste of your time. Sorry. Looks like you will have to wait until a Leopard compatible driver is released...

I am not alone!!! I recently agreed to a lease of a C550. We have both Windows and Mac workstations and the performance is very poor in the Mac environment. The drivers are severely crippled.

I have been working with my sales rep, a color specialist, and an application specialist from KM and all three of them have had the same problems when testing files. And no one has offered a resolution. I should I have stayed with Xerox.

I have had the same problem as you described. As well as very bad color results. If I try to send a file in CMYK mode on the Mac workstation everything is extremely dark (Light Brown turns Black, etc.) The same file on the windows computer in CMYK is fine. Also, I have taken the same files to a Xerox dealer to compare. The files came out much more accurate (as close as can be expected for a color laser print). I have been in the design and printing industry for over 10 years and I have never been this disappointed. I am curious to see how things turn out and how many other Apple user are left behind with Konica Minolta Drivers.

mwashburn, can you link me to the driver that you're using for the iPF700? I cannot get it to work in Leopard for the life of me!

I've used the C550-C650 Linux CUPS driver – just copied the KOC650UX.PPD
It was a longshot, but I figured that since Apple aquired CUPS I just thought I'd give it a shot. Works on a BizHub C550 with different options (tested on two Mac Pros with Leopard).

Same issue here with the ipf700 and 10.5 on a new office iMac.

Just called Canon - and they confirmed that their driver is not compatible w/10.5.

They did not have a set ETA, but they said it could be as late as July.
