Where Are the Printing Presets?

I've got several printing presets created. I select a photo and click the print icon. In the print dialog that appears there is a Printer drop down menu and Presets drop down menu. Despite having several presets only Standard is in the drop down menu. When I click on Print the next print dialog appears and I can choose the presets from that drop down menu.

What's the use for the preset drop down menu in the main print dialog? Is this caused by the Epson driver. I'm using an R200.

Thanks
Kelvin

Kelvin:

Did you save the presets and give them a unique name so they could be selected at a later time?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I've upgraded to 10.5.1 and my printing presets in iPhoto 08 still only show Standard. I have several presets set up. When I click to print the standard printing dialog appears. I then have to set the correct preset. It would be nice to be able to set the preset at the iPhoto print page. I notice you are using Canon printers. I only have Epson, an R200.

Can anyone with an Epson printer confirm if the iPhoto print presets display their custom presets?

Thanks

Kelvin:

See the link "Here's" in my post above. I just fixed it and it represents the Epson R200 print window under Leopard. I suggest you go to the Print and Fax section of the System Preferences and remove and reinstall the Epson print driver.

My printing presets are available in the print dialog box. However they are not present in the iPhoto print presets. When you click on the print icon at the bottom right of the iPhoto window an iPhoto print dialog box appears. There are Printer, Paper Size, Presets, and Print Size drop down menus. None of my printer presets are present, except for Standard, in the Presets drop down menu. Does this menu work at all? I have iPhoto 7.1.2

Thanks for replying.

Ah ha. I see what you mean. In the first window I'm able to see my custom presets for my Canon i850 but not for my R200. However, if you click on the Customize button and then on the Print button you'll be able to access all of the custom presets. You don't have to set any custom settings only access the Print button thru that window.

I selected the Customize then the Print and my Presets are still not showing. The Epson presets are not brought forward to the iPhoto preset menus. Must be a bug. I wonder if it affects all Epson printers?
Thanks for trying. I bought the R200 mainly for DVD/CD printing. Too bad Canon doesn't do it on their USA printers. HP has a couple of models that do DVD/CDs.

Hmm, this version of iPhoto is from the installed version that came with this iMac. I had a cloned disk of my iPhoto libary from my iBook and copied the iPhoto library from that external hard drive. I haven't even installed Epson drivers, just using the ones that came with the Imac with 10.4.10 at the time. I'll play around with a new user to see how this works. However, since you have an R200 and those presets don't show up in the iPhoto preset list then it must be a common bug.

Does it work for you Canon?
