Change Direction of DELETE

Okay, this probably sounds really silly, but it's the only thing on my Mac that I don't like. I have to use PCs for work but I recently bought a MAC for my personal use so my brain and fingers are still trained for a PC and while I've transitioned pretty well to Mac and totally love it, I keep deleting in the wrong direction. My PCs delete from the right (or from the beginning of what I want to delete toward the end) and my Mac deletes to the left (or from the end of what I want to delete toward the beginning) Is there any way to change the direction of deletion on my Mac?

Thanks, in advance. 🙂

Use Backspace key to delete to the left and Delete key to delete to the right. That is if you have a full keyboard layout.

On iBooks there isn't a delete key, keyboard is without two additional sections for navigation and for calculating. And it is annoying. I've spent a lot of elbow grease before I figured out that the trick is done with the 'fn' (funny) key - bottom row, last left key - to the left of Ctrl. Press and hold, hit Backspace and you delete to the right, same as with Delete key on full keyboaird layout.

Press and hold fn+Option, hit Backspace and you delete to the right word by word.

Hope this helps.

There is another possible solution.

If you install the freeware DoubleCommand (it's a System Prefence Pane) you can map the Delete key to some other key. I have it set to the second small enter key on the MacBook (the one next to the arrow keys) since I never used that as an enter key but it's the ideal place for a delete key, imho.

Here is the link to it: http://doublecommand.sourceforge.net/
