Logic Studio Full vs Academic Version

Hello,

I am a student studying Audio Engineering/Computer Music Production and have a quick question on Logic Studio.

What is the difference between Logic Studio Full and Academic version? As far as I know there is no difference in the functionality. Am I wrong?
I am planning to get Academic version of it.
Is there any limitation for getting the future updates?

Hi,

There is no difference as far as functionality.

However, you cannot upgrade to the next major update. For example, owners of Logic 7 academic, cannot upgrade to Logic Studio. They can buy the full version, just not the upgrade price.

I'm not sure if this is true yet.

Certainly it was true for LP7, but for LP8 the academic prices have increased substantially, and there is no notice on the academic version of LE8/LS in the academic store saying it's not eligable for future upgrades, like there was for LP7.

So it's wise to check first, perhaps give Apple a ring..?
