HP 1018

I still can't get printer to print - anything sent to it shows stopped in the queue. The firmware loads, the printer makes noise - but, nothing. I am using Leopard and followed the instructions from Matt and the Linux site where the drivers are.
I shutdown also as described - no help.

We will need to look for some sort of indication why the printer is stopping. Please try printing a new job and let if fail. Then use a web browser to look at the CUPS error log http://127.0.0.1:631/admin/log/error_log (You may have to enter your short user name and password.)

Copy and paste about the last 30 or so lines from that log in a reply. We are looking for some line that indicates where the printer stopped. We need to especially see the lines before it stopped. This may not give us enough information, but it is a start.

Matt
Shutdown and restarted - there still were jobs in the queue.

It looks like you forgot to install Foomatic-RIP. Please download and install this package from _ http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/foo2zjs_

You may have also forgotten to install Ghostscript. You should download that and install that also.

Thanks - I actually did install them , but, when I re-installed the printer started to work. Something must have gone wrong the first time/

Glad to hear that solved your problem. I'm not quite sure why Foomatic-RIP would disappear, but the foo2zjs installer would have complained if it didn't find Foomatic-RIP and Ghostscript installed when you ran the installer.
