I am hearing this strange laughing man sound effect while using my computer. I can't correlate it with any specific application or time. It will just play. The computer may be idle and this laughing just starts and goes on for about 5-7 seconds. I don't remember downloading anything and I've checked all the files I can think of. Anyone know what this is?
Try leaving Activity Monitor open and sort by CPU usage in descending order. When you hear the sound, switch to Activity Monitor and see if a particular app has popped to the top of the CPU usage list. That could provide a clue.
I have the exact same problem. I last remembered trying to install mytunes (i think) a couple of days ago, and i thought that might have something to do with that. Is there a a black box that appears around icons, test boxes etc because that is what I have?
FIXED IT!
I used the activity monitor and clicked the CPU usage column (to sort it) and found a programme (not sure of its name), but it was in red and said in brackets that it wasn't responding. I closed the process, logged out, shutdown, now its all good.
Thank you
I've checked widgets, no new ones there, can't understand the activity monitor and have the Vicki voice in speech to text. Any other ideas? It's very strange.
