Shortcut to Search Box

Is Search Box the proper name for it? The thing to the right of the address bar?

In Firefox, Cmd-K works as a shortcut, but not in Safari.. I've been using Cmd-L then tabbing over. What is the shortcut?

I also have a second question.. my Safari does not autocomplete the password anywhere.. it autocompletes the login name field, but then I have to type in the password.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Hi Nicholas,

command optionf. I'm not sure what to call it either - Google box? 🙂

I'm not sure about the password question.
Have you tried clearing the entries from the Safari Preferences -> AutoFill section and also from your Keychain (via Keychain Access)?

With things removed, hopefully it will reprompt you to save them. Some websites occassionally change their code such that passwords are not autofilled - if you mention a site we can take a look to see if Safari is following the websites direction.

No probs - just helps to have something to look at on this side of the fence.
Facebook.com should work of course - works fine on Safari 3.0.4 on Tiger.

First things first, is the 'User names and passwords' option checked in the Safari preferences -> AutoFill section?

If it is checked, are there entries for http://www.facebook.com and/or http s://www.facebook.com present?

Assuming they are present can you run Keychain Access to double check that there is a www.facebook.com entry for storing the password? While you are there, try running 'Keychain First Aid' via the Keychain Access main menu (or command optiona if the 10.5 shortcut is the same as 10.4).

There was also a keychain update for 10.5 released a few weeks ago - do you know if you have run that already?

Edit: This is the [update|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/loginkeychai nupdate10.html] I was referring to above.

Okay thanks for your help.

Yes it is and has been checked, and there are entries for facebook.com.

Yes, the entry is also in the Keychain Access, and when I click show password, I see the password. I ran Keychain First Aid on verify and repair, and the same problem persists. And yes, I got the update a few weeks ago, possibly the same time this problem started happening.
