How stop/abort a download?

What keystroke will stop a file download that's in progress?

Thanks.

MacBook 1.83 MHz, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Safari 3.0.3

+It's not the most intuitive, or quick to type, but try:+
+command-option-L, then down-arrow-key to select the download and Escape to quit it.+

Well intuitive/quick or not, it sure beats sitting out an unwanted download -- so thanks!

Unless you tell me otherwise, I'll assume it aborts the download without crashing (or exiting) Safari.

+When I download using Safari a small Downloads Window appears. Simply hitting cancel in that window stops the download.+

An option to 'cancel' would be the obvious way to do, but I've found that it doesn't appear in every download window. I don't know the reason for that. So my question was really how to cancel when no obvious way to cancel is displayed.

Thanks for your reply.
