Call AT&T and have your number blocked on a permanent basis, then whenever you want someone to see your number use *82 before the number to temporarily release the number block. Since you probably want your number blocked more than not this is the easiest way.
Not only that but on my landline phone, I have caller ID blocking rejection. If they block their number, they are told to unblock their number and then call back.
I wish they would do this on cell phones. There are also caller ID spoofing services around that show a fake phone number when you call someone. Not sure if that works with cellphones.
Thats the point. You block it at at&t and now people who you dont want to see your number wont, you dont have to worry about it. Then when you want someone to see your number you do a *82 and temp unblock. You can even enter the number with the *82 in your contacts so when you call someone you want to see your id they will.
I am the same way. I dont answer blocked, private, or unknown calls.
When I call my friends and want them to know its me i unblock my number when dialing them. I actually enter their number with the *82 in my contacts, so i never have to actually type the *82. This way friends see my unblocked number and everyone else sees blocked.
