If you're replacing your iPhone on a warranty related issue then "Yes" the warranty transfers to the replacement equipment. That is normally how AppleCare handles replacement equipment.

If you only had the one year warranty and had a part replaced then the warranty coverage would be from when you originally made the purchase, same for the extended warranty - it started when you orginally purchased the unit.

Make sure you make the people who are replacing the iPhone know that you have the coverage.

What 3 year extended warranty?

If you've already purchased the AppleCare extended warranty which can be purchased anytime within the first year after the purchase date, the AppleCare extended warranty for the iPhone extends the standard 1 year warranty for another year for a total of 2 years only, not 3 years.

Oops. thanks for that...

I meant that the AppleCare warranty adds two years to a standard Apple warranty therefore "three years" in total - for Macs.

You're correct. Apple only extends iPod and iPhone warranty by one year - which *****...

I was mearly attempting to reassure the guy that if he was replacing an Apple product under warranty that the existing warranty would be honored (from the date of purchase.) He stated that he had already purchased the warranty.

Hmmm... does that mean that the battery will not last more than two years?

Doesn't mean anything of the kind.
