Camera crashes

I have the latest software update, have restored twice now (not just reset) but everytime I press the camera button, the camera starts and then crashes. Any ideas?

You should contact Apple 1-800-MYIPHON
You can also try Settings>Genereal>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings but I do not thing it will do anything other than erase all the data on the phone

Thank you. I will do that today. I read through some other posts and see that is what others had to do as well. I'm wondering when the next update comes out - maybe that will fix it. I hate for it to be misdiagnosed as a hardware issue if it was the software update that killed the camera. I did the restore but that didn't help. I will try reset as well.

Here is how I fixed my camera (with the help of the genuis bar at Apple, Ridgedale Mall, Minneapolis, MN).

1. Reset and Erase All Settings
2. Create a new phone
3. Do not sync yet.
4. For Photos - Choose a different folder to store your pictures.
5. Choose to only sync your photos from that folder.
6. Apply the settings and sync.

Press the Camera icon - you should be working now.

What I gathered is I didn't have a hardware issue, but most likely a corrupt backup file. I have also reset the warnings so my crash dumps can be sent to Apple to review.

Basically - the genius at the Apple Store said to test what can sync without crashing the Camera. If the Camera crashes - you will need to reset and erase all to get the corrupt file off the phone. Hopefully the files you have issues with that are causing the slideshow app to crash are not your contacts - that would be a pain to figure which contact might be bad....but I don't think it is in that area - I really think for me it was a bad backup file or a corrupt picture.....I've got some music and pics back on my device, plus contacts.

I hope this can help others.

Robert Davis
