Brand-new iPhone with tiny dust particle under screen glass

Hi everyone!

I recently got an iPhone and I absolutely love it. However, I'm pretty picky when it comes to screen flaws, such as the one I'm experiencing with my brand-new iPhone.

Apart from one or two misbehaving pixels there's a tiny dust particle sitting right under the glass in the lower right corner of the screen. It drives me nuts!

It has been there from the very first day on, and I know it won't go away by itself. More likely, it'll get some company eventually. I know there's nothing one can do about pixel anomalies, it's just a matter of luck whether you have some or none. But as for that piece of dust/dirt I really don't know what to do.

Should I really pester Apple about this? It's a minor issue, and some people probably won't even notice it. But I constantly keep looking at that dust particle. Aaargh!

If you kind of share sympathy for my “problem”, let me know what you think about this. But please, let's keep this discussion friendly and let's not rant about my picky attitude. I already know about it.

I just got a brand new iPhone with the same dust particle under the screen. It's not a minor issue, since it's located right at safari address bar, and I keep confusing it with a period at the entered addresses. I did contacted apple authorized service by phone and they told me it can not be fixed, so I will take it there to see if I can change it for another.

Hope that helps.

Oh no, that's really nasty! :-/

Meanwhile I called Apple about the dust particle and they advised me to take my iPhone to one of their ASPs in order to let them decide if this was an issue covered by Apple's limited warranty.

Well, I didn't feel much like arguing about it and finally called T-Mobile. They were really friendly and shared sympathy for my problem, and—most important—they offered an exchange.

Yesterday I received a brand new iPhone with a perfect screen. But guess what: the earpiece distorts heavily and the home button gets stuck sometimes. Gwaaah! I'll guess I have to send it back and ask for yet another exchange. Oh God, they'll hate me! And my friends will too, as with every exchange T-Mobile assigns me a new number! 🙂

No it isn't the sensor, it is very small like a grain of sand.
It is right on the edge of the screen were it meets to black part were the ear piece is.
You can only see it if you hold the phone at an angle of about 20 degrees looking down from the top.
In another post on this forum someone was told it was a water droplet, if you look closely that is exactly what it looks like.

As predicted, I took my defective iPhone to apple representatives and they promptly exchanged it for a brand new one, no questions asked. Better yet, only when I used the new one I noticed that the old was suffering with the same "distorted" sound mentioned above, which seems to be a problem with the iPhone(not the earbuds), since I kept my old earbuds. Also I noticed that the camera on the new one take perfect pictures, which was not the case with the old one, which all pictures came out kind of "out of focus" and sometime even with nasty green stripes on top of it.

Anyway, once again, I'm a happy Apple loyal costumer 🙂
