Mac can't read a Windows CD...

I downloaded a couple of Mac OS X updates on my Vista PC, burned them onto a CD (type CD-R) and took them to the Mac. After spinning up the CD, the following msg appears: "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. ......."

I used the "mastered" burn option - as that claims to have the best compatibiity with other systems.

What do I need to do to ensure the Mac can read the CD?

Because I chose the "Mastered" format, there is no option to close / finalise. Here is a relevant description from Windows Help:

"Mastered discs do not need to be closed; they are automatically compatible with other computers, so you will never see an option to close a session that you have made with the Mastered format."
