Time Machine and filevault-backdoor?

One of the main reasons I purchased leopard is because of TM. However, I also use filevault for extra security. I already know that TM will backup the home folder when I log out and that I can only do a full system restore. However, with what I have experienced with computers, there is always a backdoor to these issues using terminal or something like that. Anybody know one? I am do not care that it only backups when I log out as that is not really a problem. I am really looking into restoring single files. Also, I already know that one could go into the TM folder on the EXT HD and restore manually but the reason I like TM is because it is simple to use and has everything organized (the TM folder can get confusing sometimes. So just to remind you of my question........ Anybody know a backdoor????
Thanks,
