Mighty Mouse won't move cursor

Everything else works: Scroll up/down and left/right, left and right click, Expose and Dashboard. It just won't move the cursor.

I have no idea, the computer says it is connected (full battery) and paired. It is a brand new mouse, connected to a power mac running Leopard -- did I just get a bad mouse?

I have the same problem. My mighty mouse will connect and all the buttons work fine but it won't move the cursor. It actually will move the cursor if I move the mouse around violently and knock it on the table, but then it only moves a fraction on the screen.

A friend let me try his mighty mouse on my MacBook and it worked fine. It seems like the problem is in the mouse itself. Probably something to do with the optical sensor.

Any one have any tips to fix it?

I bought one today and plan on returning it tomorrow! It's the most erratic mouse I've ever seen.

I had absolutely no problems installing and pairing it but the cursor response to mouse movement ranges from not at all to jerky. There are no apparent problems with the batteries because they show a full charge.

I'll replace it with the wired version -- that's my fix for for the problem.

Hi,
I read on another discussion board that the sensors within the mouse get dirty. The solution tried was to turn the mouse upside down and roll the ball firmly on a white sheet of paper to get the gunk out of it. The responses to this solution was favorable.
I tried it and my mouse has not lost connection in a while.

Good Luck,
Bob

Yep - tried cleaning... Doesn't help. I have to press down super hard to "jump start" the track ball, this gets scrolling working, and the left / right etc buttons still work fine, but moving the mouse will not make the cursor move at all. I've tried everything... I think... Unless someone has another idea....

Thanks

Hi all, like most of you I have experienced my MM losing connection with my Mac. However, I think I found another piece of the puzzle. I had to reset my router last week because of a power surge. I notice my mouse lost connection when I was mucking about trying to figure out how to configure my new router. In the process, I notice how this affected my airport as could not even detect nearby WiFi, and it somehow unpaired my MM. It's still a mystery. Anyway, my MM has not acted up since and works great!
I hope that helps.
