Mail won't "trust" a certificate

My email account is running off a shared IP. When Mail checks for new mail it pulls up a box telling me that the certificate for the email account is unknown.

I have REPEATEDLY checked the box for "always trust this certificate", and Mail doesn't recognize this if Mail is shut down and reopened. Even though the box remains checked to "always trust"!

Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? It's very annoying.
