"Nudge" command from Finder contextual menu

Hi,

Just curious - if I right-click in Finder, one of the options in the pop-up menu is 'Nudge'. I can apparently 'nudge' the Desktop (if I click on that) or any file icon. I've tried it and nothing seems to happen, and I can't find anything about it in system help. Various searches on the internet yield nothing beyond the fact that you can nudge, for example, cues in Logic or layers in Photoshop; nothing about nudging in the Finder.

Does anyone know what the command is for?

Ta,

Dan

Hi,

Check in these 2 locations for installed plugins:

/Users/YourUsername/Library/Contextual Menu Items/
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/

It sounds like something you have installed has added this mysterious option.
Removing the item from the folder should disable it (might require a log out/in for it take effect).

Cheers iBod,

This is a company Mac, so I deny any responsibility for its configuration or performance 😉

I found the plugin where you suggested and looked up the product's description on the internet, based on the info in the Get Info box. Apparently 'This Contextual Menu "nudges" the Finder to update the information it displays about a file or folder'. Fair enough...

No need to disable it, I was just curious about what it did.

Thanks very much for your help.

Dan
