buying iphone for austria ..

hi,
can i buy a iphone in U.S. without at&t and use it in austria/EU ?

what will be the price and can i get it, for example, at apple-store in las vegas ?

The US iPhone is locked to ATT. It will not work in Austria.

i only want to know, if i can buy it without at&t at apple-store (directly) and for $ 399.00.

the unlocking will be done here in vienna ....

Apple will be more than happy to accept your money - you can purchase an iPhone at an Apple Store or AT&T Store without activating the iPhone with AT&T which is done when connected to your computer via iTunes but if you happen to receive a defective iPhone, using a hack to unlock it voids the warranty which wouldn't matter anyway for someone that lives in Vienna with an iPhone purchased in the U.S., no Apple support provided here by other users or elsewhere and will prevent you from installing any future iPhone updates provided by Apple.

Just believe you should be aware of the good and bad when doing this.
