This is about send me over the edge...has anyone heard from Apple as to what their problem is. Just seems we are all confirming that we are having the same problem and no one fix works for all. I have tried the repairing itunes, turning off the firewall, changing the 1-click pref, etc. and nothing is working for me.
googled the 5002 error- recommendation was to go to itunes prefs, store tab, and change buy from "1-click" to "shopping cart" option. worked on the windows version; haven't tried on the macs yet.
I have been trying on and off for two days to make a purchase, i at first got the message it was a connectivity reason, so reinstalled iunes. Now still this morning getting the 5002 message, the other thread listed has lots of people having the same issue.
I am on cart only the 1 click was already off.
has anyybody sent the links to these two discussions to apple?
the trick with the shopping cart worked for me (windows) but you have to use the "buy now" button at the bottom of the window. If you use the buy button next to your item in the shopping cart yu will get the same error.
To ensure I hadn't done something like that (failure to use the 'buy now' button at the bottom-right of the screen), I just went through the procedure again, being sure to use it : same error for me, I'm afraid. oimoi !
There must be some difference between hitcher's system or his iTunes set-up and mine that enables him but blocks me.
I don't know what changed but I'm also getting the 5002 error.
Interestingly this thread is called error 5002 but support search for error 5002 results in zero.
I have the latest of Leopard and iTunes and a MacPro and it suddenly started with this 2 days ago.
You'ld think with so many people complaining someone moderating would take notice and actually DO SOMETHING. Put out a troubleshooting doc with the fix or better yet just fix it.
Tomorrow I call Apple Care.
I Know this may not help but I too have had the dreaded error 5002. Tried everything I can for about a week now but no luck. Changed to shopping cart but still up **** creek with no paddle. If anyone reaches a solution then please post it on this board. You will be helping a lot of frustrated people. I"ve written an email to iTunes support but they haven't got back to me yet. You would think that they would want to fix this problem quickly before they lost too much business. I'm running an iMac with OS X (10.5.1) but I don't think this problem is limited to any one system. I think it's just a matter of bad luck.
