Trying to install a Canon Pixma iP6000D via wireless network - getting error message "Error:-9672" -says printer setup utility is not responding/working. Successful installed an HP (direct connection, though).
Confusing to me, since this printer (the Canon) was connected to the wireless network before. Had problems getting it to print, so I deleted the printer and can't re-install it.
Wow - this is the exact same behavior I am experiencing. Same Canon model, etc. When I deleted it I can't readd it either. It comes up as a Bonjour connection and I can't seem to get rid of it.
Its not Cannon and its not 10.5, I have an HP Laserjet and 10.4.11 and the same exact thing is happening to me. I could print yesterday, today I couldn't, I uninstalled now I can't reinstall.
Same here. I bought a brand new canon pixma MX310 printer; connected through my Airport Extreme station, suddenly will not respond to print commands(it did earlier today), try to trash and re-add printer and get ERROR -9672.
I just hit my Software Update and it's showing a 'Canon Drivers Update'. I'm GUESSING that this will take care of the Canon printing problems in Leopard.
I'll let you know as soon as I get it loaded. Anyone loaded this update yet? Fixed?
I'm having the same problem with a Canon Pixma 530. I have been using this printer with Air Port Extreme for almost a year. I've had problems before where I had to reset the printer, install the driver again, but then it worked. This time I downloaded the driver, installed it, and keep getting error 9672.
The only way to bypass this is to connect the printer to the computer directly. Forget the wireless network. (I have Airport.) It worked once I did this.
Thanks for your brilliance Apple, and your outstanding hours of tech support (8 am - 6 pm PST). That helps. I guess I have to take the day off to get help!
I replaced the USB hub that I had connected (USB 1.1) with a new one (USB 2.0) and that seems to have helped but it's by no means solved.
A lot more trouble than we're used to with Apple's OSX.
I plugged the printer directly into computer and noticed that it worked without problem so it seems to be an issue with the Aiport Base Station
I had same problem with my Canon iP6700D connected to my Airport Extreme (802.11n) latest model. I restarted the Airport by unplugging it for a few seconds and then turning off the printer. When the Airport restarted, I turned the printer back on and was able to add the printer to my network again. It is working so far. Hope this works for some of you who haven't tried it.
The same stupid error is coming up when I try to add my HP 3100 connected to my airport express. " Error -9672". Someone please help. What can I do to configure my printer with my Macbook? Thanks
I was having the same problem with my HP 3180, MacBook and APE. I googled the error and found this link to some helpful advice that instructs you to uninstall the printer software and select a different built in print driver. It worked for me and took just minutes! hope this helps you too...
I have this problem with my Canon iP5300. I'm using a 'g' Airport Extreme as a Main Base Station, and an Express as a remote using WDS. I'm on a G5 iMac running 10.4.11.
All was working OK, but now the only way I can add the printer is to go into Airport Admin and uncheck 'distribute IP addresses'. I have 2 airports at home - one for my Net connection and one for Airtunes (modem and stereo are not in the same room) so this is not ideal. It also greys out the 'Utility' icon so I can't print test pages etc.
I've updated to the latest Canon drivers but this makes no difference.
I could just plug the USB into the back of my iMac, but I would like to be able to print from my iBook without the iMac having to be on. I'd also like to free up one of the miserly 3 USB ports on the back of my iMac.
Any ideas as to why this has just suddenly stopped working would be greatly appreciated.
