Big uh-oh..water damage and possible burning?

Somehow water got on my iPod at the gym the other day. I don't know if I put it in a puddle in the holder on the machine or I dripped on it or what, but it got wet. It started skipping and the buttons wouldn't work so I brought it home and dried it with the hair dryer a bit. Then for some reason it seemed intelligent to plug it into the charger so I did and left it. A little while later I smelled burning and the iPod was extremely hot so I unplugged it. Now I have no response from it at all and there are small burn marks on the adaptor port thing. Did I totally fry this thing or is there any hope?

Using a hair drier and then plugging into a charger were probably two of the worst things you could have done!

The hair drier probably blew water further into the iPod innards, and not letting the iPod dry out thoroughly (for at least a week)before connecting to the charger is probably the cause of the burning smell as water and live electrical circuits are not a good combination.

Sorry to say, I think you almost certainly killed it. 😟
