Put your strings in a column of a table.
Then, read the page 185 of the english user guide (or search for "Sorting Table Cells" in the Help)
+• To sort all the cells in a column, select one of the column’s cells, open the Table+
+Inspector, click Table, and then choose Sort Ascending or Sort Descending from the+
+Edit Rows & Columns pop-up menu.+
+• To sort only some of the cells in a column, select the cells before choosing Sort+
+Ascending or Sort Descending.+

To make things a bit easier, select your list and in the Menu bar click Format>Table>Convert Text to Table then follow Yvan’s instructions. Then click Format>Table>Convert Table to Text.
I tried to follow Yvan’s instructions but was not familiar enough with how to put my “Strings” in a table. With Walt’s reply It is solved! While not as simple as in Word, it is simple enough.
I restate the complete instructions for other new Mac users like me to more easily follow.

Select your list and in the Menu bar click Format>Table>Convert Text to Table
Select one of the column’s cells (1st click selects entire table, 2nd click selects individual cell)
Open “Table Inspector” (Click Table icon at top of Pages document)
Make sure “table” button is selected, not “format” button
Choose Sort Ascending from the Edit Rows & Columns pop-up menu
Finally, click Format>Table>Convert Table to Text.
