iTunes library a mess! Upgraded to new iMac 24"...now what?

My iTunes library has become a mess over the years on my G4 iMac. Somehow some duplicates were created. Also, many of my songs are not "authorized" because I believe they were purchased on another account I had at one time. I have about 70GB of content in my iTunes library. I copied it over to the "Music" folder on my new 24" 2.4 iMac. I'm afraid to just import it though. Are there any 3rd party applications, and things that I should do to clean up the library (duplicates, authorization issue) before I import it into my new iTunes library? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You will need to go to iTS Customer service to resolve the authorization/account issue. You will need to have all the tunes associated with one account. Go here and fill out the form using the 'contact us' button at the bottom of the page - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/

If you know where the dups are located you can remove them via the Finder but it is usually easier to use the 'keep' and 'copy' features in iTunes prefs and then find the dups using the 'View' menu once you have loaded some tunes into iTunes. You don't have to add the tunes all at one time but can do it piece meal.
