iPhone won't automatically connect to Linksys WRT54G

I have a Linksys WRT54G and my iPhone doesn't automatically connect to it. Another issue I'm having is once I manually connect to the wifi, my signal is very weak.
Any suggestions?

To try to narrow this down somewhat, do you regularly connect automatically to any other Wi-Fi networks without issue and is this isolated to your wireless router/network only?

Did you look at the Linksys web site to see if a firmware upgrade is available??

I had a similar problem and a firmware upgrade on my router was the ticket..

I found the latest firmware upgrade but I'm having trouble installing it. Whenever I try, the screen goes blank after a few seconds. What am I doing wrong?

I am not sure what you mean by the screen goes blank???

You are connecting to the router with a browser on your PC or MAC, no??? You than upload the file to the router using their interface and say apply, no???

Sorry for the confusion. What I mean is that the internet window goes blank and then just sits there. I tried extracting the firmware file but it was unrecognizable.
