using iPhone with Amazon

I purchased a Treo 700p a year ago, and over the past 7 months one site at a time switched from full websites, to very limited mobile websites, I guess, so more limited phones could access them. So this weekend I purchased an iPhone so I would have the full power of Safari and I could get back to viewing full websites. Well, one of the sites I went to was Amazon and they were testing an highly limited iPhone mobile website, I was still able to go to what they called the PC version(full version), but as we all know, a beta version means, the permanent version is coming. Am I right back where I was with my Palm 700p? Have I wasted my money by buying another phone that in a matter of months is only going to be able to receive these weak excuses for websites? Steve brought us this great and wonderful iPhone, and I have read other discussions about being able to switch the mobile site option on and off, which is a great option. But does YAHOO, AMAZON, etc. underatand that Mac users purchased this phone to experience the richness of the internet, not its limitations.

For myself, I kind of like the option to have both a mobile and a normal website available -- I've found myself stuck with just the Edge network available lately, and where most normal websites take far too much time to pull down, mobile sites (including Amazon's beta site) are actually usable.

So far, I haven't found any website that has locked me into just the mobile version; are you finding places that won't let you see the full website?

On my Palm, yes it is either the full site or the mobile site. So far on the iPhone, they have not locked me on the mobile site, but that is why I have been writing to Amazon and others so they leave it as an option. Like you said, there are times when you want the site to load quicker or you may not have a strong signal, so the mobile version is better. But there are times when I am shopping in a store and I see a deal on an older move(DVD), so I want to be able to go to yahoo's movie site and read about it. Well on the mobile site all you can read about are movies currently in the theaters, not previous movies

Hi Carrera,

I've only gotten 2 mobile sites on my iPhone, one being Amazon. However, I click on Amazon's full site as I cannot access my seller account on their mobile one. If you're looking for something on Amazon, it may be faster to use their site for the iPhone. I don't remember what the other site was but haven't had any other problems. That is one of the biggest features about the iPhone-being able to access full web pages.

Enjoy your phone-I'm sure you won't run into these issues too much.
