HELP!!! My Camera stopped working!

So just as I was about to embark on vacation, the camera I had planned on using (my iPhone) decided to quit working!!! ARGGG!!!

Here's my scenario,

Click on the "Camera" icon to open up the Camera App.

Camera functions as usual. The viewfinder shows image as it is supposed to.

Click on the "Camera Button" to capture the image, and everything functions as it is supposed to. You see the shutter close, and for a brief moment you see the captured image minimize itself as if it is saving.

On the bottom left corner where you 'click' to view the "Camera Roll" there are nothing but WHITE, EMPTY BOXES where the image preview should be.

Viewing the "Camera Roll", if you click on the WHITE BOX, the application simply sends you back to the "HOME" screen.

WHUT THE HECK !?!?

--- this is not cool at all --- If I have to go to the APPLE STORE again I'm going to lose my mind. That place is a friggin' NIGHTMARE and slammed packed busy (especially thanks to Christmas time!).

HELP!!!

Have you tried reseting the phone?

Have you tried restoring the phone?

PROBLEM FIXED !!!

The first time I RESET, I "Reset All Settings" which didn't work.

Then I tried using RESTORE twice which didn't work either...

Out of sheer desperation I just tried the "Erase All Content and Settings" (which may as well read, "Certain Death Button") - very scary.

That seemed to work! Whoot!

Thanks for helping guys!

I simply DID NOT want to re-live the nightmare of going to 1 of the 2 MAC stores here in Orlando. Both are totally claustrophobic, completely aggravating experiences. I started having flashbacks of the last time I was in the store because my first iPhone's HOME button decided to no longer work. I kept thinking to myself "Ohhh No! Not again!".

It's embarrassing when you can't pull out your cool iPhone to show off because it doesn't work right.

Thanks again everyone!

ARGGG!! Just when I thought everything was fixed...

So, to recap... I did an "Erase All Content and Settings" to fix the problem...

Then...

From iTunes, I tried to restore from my last backup, which in turn, created the problem again!

So, I'm setting up as a "New iPhone" this time... ready to sync now... crossing my fingers!!!

In deed, I followed the advice below and it worked: ie go into SETTINGS, go to GENERAL, go to RESET, select: "erase all content and settings".
I use v 1.1.1. and that remains the same.
the pciture shows up in camera roll, it is recognised by iPhoto and imported with no problem.
wonder how long this will now last.

I experienced the same issue and it's not yet working for me. Here is the report I sent to Apple:

After using my iPhone camera without incident for several months, I discovered the other day that photos taken with the iPhone were not being saved on the phone. When taking a photo everything appears normal -- i.e. shutter animation and sound. But when I go to see the photos in the Camera Roll, it says there are no photos.

I restored the iPhone software and the camera worked immediately after the restore. An hour later the issue was back. I called Apple Support which eventually sent me to an Apple Store where I received a new iPhone. After restoring from my backup, the new phone has the same issue.

So apparently this is a software bug or data corruption and I'm unclear how to resolve it at this time. A Google search reveals others are experiencing this issue as well, but I was not able to find reports related to this issue in Apple's support knowledge base.

I'm using OS X 10.5.2 on a Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz machine and iPhone software 1.1.4.

Hope you are able to help. Thanks,

Gabriel
