MacDraw ClarisDraw AppleWorksDraw

I understand that AppleWorks can coexist with iWork and that it still works with newer versions of MacOS. But I don't want to go farther down a dead-end road if iWork isn't going to pick up the Draw capability of AppleWorks, I'd like to know where to turn next. I don't want to save my drawings as .jpg, .jif, .pdf, or as any other not-easily-editable format. I need to be able to edit them just as I have in ClarisDraw and AppleWorks. ** I'm looking for a new application that can easily import ClarisDraw and AppleWorks drawings, or at least an application that works like ClarisDraw and AppleWorks Draw. **
I actually have more drawings in ClarisDraw format than AppleWorks Draw. They don't import cleanly from ClarisDraw to AppleWorks. It can be done, but it's not efficient and clean. I don't want to go to the trouble of converting more drawings from ClarisDraw to AppleWorks if this is a dead-end.
If I can't find something to carry these drawings forward in an editable format, then I would like to start fresh with an application that is as simple and easy to use as these. Someone told me that the old MacDraw/ClarisDraw format was covered by another software product (not AppleWorks) years ago, but I don't know if that is still true.
So, two questions: (1) Can anyone tell me the name of the application that can directly handle or cleanly import ClarisDraw drawings? (2) Can anyone recommend a new/different drawing application that works essentially just like ClarisDraw and AppleWorks Draw?
Thanks.

Michael and Yvon, thanks for the tip on Intaglio. Fortunately, I hadn't yet converted most of my drawings to AppleWorks, so I'll be able to open them directly with Intaglio. I don't know if there's a way to go back to ClarisDraw format from AppleWorks, but I'll play with it. It was hard enough converting ClarisDraw to AppleWorks in the few cases where I did that.

I checked AppleWorks 5 on my G3 iBook & ClarisDraw is not an option in the Save dialog. The translators in the Claris folder in the OS 9 System Folder don't include it either. Although I haven't checked the actual backup CD yet, the list of a backup of my System Folder from April 1998 in my CD cataloging program lists many more translators. There is one for MacDraw II 1.1 & MacDraw Pro but none for ClarisDraw. I'm sure that I can copy those translators to my iBook, but I'm not willing to do a lot of translating for anyone.

"I was wondering about "Save As" options. I can probably use someone else's AppleWorks to convert these few drawings back to ClarisDraw format. Thanks."

Please note that Claris Draw is not the same application as Claris Works. The translator mentioned in Sagesse's post is for ClarisWorks 4.0, not for any version of ClarisDraw.

Barry
