G3 Power Usage in Sleep Mode

My iMac 400 MHz PowerPC G3 uses about 34 watts of power while sleeping. (100 watts while running). I've read other Macs use as little as 3 watts. Is this normal for my computer?

Completely sleeping. Newer Macs require much less power when sleeping, so I've read. I've seen a few places that seem to indicate there are certain Macs like mine that use more power in sleep mode. My computer was bought in 1999 or 2000. Maybe they've just improved efficiency since then. I plugged my computer into a device called Kill-a-Watt which measures electrical output. I suppose most people may not know (or care) how much juice their machines are using, but I like to keep my usage at a minimum.

Sorry to repeat, but does "completely sleeping" mean absolutely no sounds from the iMac?

Our IMac 400DV in sleep mode made not a whisper, and was basically cool when you placed a hand on the upper vents. If you can feel any heat or hear any little noises, I would think something is prohibiting normal sleep. At 34W consumption, you'd think there would be some heat produced somewhere.
